Introduction

We are seeking a motivated Fixed Plant Electrician for a 5-month contract, FIFO from Perth on an 8/6:7/7 roster, based in Port Hedland, to join a high-performing maintenance team at a major iron ore operation. The role involves maintaining and fault-finding on fixed plant electrical systems, including motors, MCCs, VSDs, and instrumentation, to ensure safe and reliable plant performance.

What are you going to do 

As a Fixed Plant Electrician, you will play a key role in keeping the processing plant running safely and efficiently. You will carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs across fixed plant equipment, ensuring equipment reliability and supporting production. The role provides the opportunity to apply your expertise, improve plant performance, and contribute to safe work practices, including responsibilities such as:

  • Perform preventative, opportunistic, shutdown, online and offline maintenance on fixed plant electrical systems
  • Follow and complete Work Instructions and Routine Checklists, applying a strong understanding of electrical schematics
  • Conduct electrical statutory testing, inspections, and accurately enter data into the maintenance system
  • Identify and rectify hazards, and report safety and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide detailed repair reporting, including photos and descriptions to support future maintenance planning
  • Undertake general electrical installation, repair, and upgrade works throughout the plant
  • Complete permits, isolations, and maintenance documentation as required
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, safety interactions, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with fixed plant maintenance teams and other trade disciplines to support production targets
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and documentation in a safe, compliant, and serviceable condition

Essential skills and knowledge 

Requirements:

  • Electrical Trade Qualification
  • Current Western Australia Electrical Licence (Unrestricted)
  • MSIC Card or ability to obtain one
  • HV Switching Operator certificate (Desirable)
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current CPR/ LVR certificate
  • Working at Heights (preferred)
  • Valid Australian Drivers Licence (C class)
  • Demonstrated electrical experience working in processing facilities
  • Solid understanding of electrical schematics, isolation procedures, and permitting systemsCompetent in using computers and maintenance systems for data entry and reporting
  • Ability to provide a National Police Clearance (validity within 12 months) and undertake a pre-employment medical
